Non SS/Royalty

So I have been on Stardoll for 11 years now, and for the first time in five of those years I am non-ss again. Why? Partially because I recently located and am not sure how to purchase membership in this country, and partially because I can't seem to convince myself to buy a membership when I have so many other things I need at the moment.

So instead I am taking advantage of this situation to test and see if Stardoll is still fun for non-ss players. Here is what I discovered.

Stardollars are harder to come by.

No surprise here. We all know that non members can't really do much that would earn them stardollars. However you may find that it isn't as hard as it used to be to get stardollars these days. Sure you can't rake them in by the hundreds like you might if you were a successful wig stylist with a Bazaar, but it isn't impossible either. Not only do you get an occasional Stardollar log-in bonus but you can also earn stardollars through commision in the Style Studio (if you can ever save up enough to purchase it). There are also more and more contests each week with chances to win stardollars.

SD and Royalty Exclusive stores.

So there are stores that are member exclusive such as Royalty, LE, Jet Set, Runway, Young Hollywood, Subcoture and others. However I find that with the improvements and weekly updates of other original stores that I don't really miss these stores as much as I used to. Besides the items are sooo expensive that even with stardollars and membership I can usually only afford one or two.

Member exclusive features.

There are a couple of things you can't do as a non ss member that I do miss. Throwing free chat parties, color gradients on star design hair, posting to Spotlight and, ofcourse, selling my art in the Star Bazaar. Also you don't really notice that 10% royalty discount on most items, and I don't really care for most of the the SS exclusive features in the beauty parlor, and the sound you can add to your presentation I just find irritating (especially if my volume is all the way up).

The Fame.

I don't feel like I get to say much here because I was royalty for so long and gained my popularity, collections and friends in that time period. However I find that I still draw as much or as little attention as I desire without membership. I don't spend money on broadcast anymore (though I never really did as a member either) but I can still post to my friends and other doll's guestbooks. I still receive occasional gifts, from my friends and make new friends on a semi regular basis.

Starcoin Items.

Not being able to make as many Stardollars means purchasing more starcoin items. However I do find that there are less and less star coin items in the starplaza, but there are still a few items that are in star coins, especially older items in the older stores, though this will likely change eventually. Thankfully starcoin stores like Wild Candy and Basic update fairly regularly and have a mix off "off the rack" and couture pieces.

Over all I think you can still have fun as a non-ss/royalty member of Stardoll. There are so many amazing people to meet and ways to be creative and express yourself. So, if you are young, and your parents won't buy you SS membership or you can't afford it, hang in there. One day you can purchase it for yourself and the wait will be well worth it.
